Historic document – Eyes of hate – Alfred Eisenstaedt

4 Apr

I saw this documentary about a jewish photographer during the national-socialist period in Germany. Coming from Germany and being raised there i guess you g

et certain sensors for this time period and this article on Petapixel touched something in me.

Just the change of attitude or appearance in Goebbels was scary to see.
Looking further through Eisenstaedts work was again more than touching after I realised that many iconic photographs came from his camera.

I like the documentary style in his work rather than the many fashion-inspired portraits you see around. Straightforward pictures where you can see a relationship with the person he is photographing.

It makes me want to go out and take pictures in black and white of people.
